Produced to coincide with IMO World Maritime Day, this brochure sets out how shipping contributes to the United Nations sustainable development agenda and argues that the three pillars of sustainability – environmental, social and economic – should be given equal priority. ICS suggests that all future environmental regulation adopted by IMO should meet existing IMO criteria for demonstrating ‘compelling need’ and be subject to a full and proper cost benefit analysis and impact assessment, including the availability of any required new technology. click here to free download
