Formed in 2005, the GRN is a coalition of major oil industry funded companies (currently seven) with a common objective to collaborate and maximise the effectiveness of oil spill response worldwide. Its structure is founded on self-governance with no membership fees or allocated budget, and its mission is to enhance the collective capability of members and work towards common objectives that include:

Whilst sharing physical resources can sometimes be difficult – sharing information, knowledge and experience is easier – and building relationships is crucial. The GRN does this through Operational Teams which have been established to leverage intellectual capital in key functional response areas, and this work is ongoing. Each team is lead by one of the member organisations.

As the only GRN member with an international remit and in light of OSRL’s significant growth and development during the last two years, we believe we are well-placed at this point in time to take the Network forward.
