COURSE OBJECTIVES AND BENEFITS
This course provides knowledge to designated seamen to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO), as defined in section A/2.1.8 (and section A/17) of the ISPS Code. In particular it identifies the duties and responsibilities with respect to the security of a port facility, for ensuring the development of (or for developing) a Port Facility Security Assessment, for ensuring the development of (or for developing), implementing, maintaining and updating a Port Facility Security Plan and for liaising with Ship Security Officers (SSOs) and with Company Security Officers (CSOs). Those who successfully complete this course should be able to undertake the duties and responsibilities as PFSO, as defined in section A/17.2 of the ISPS Code.
